Steve Gordon: Welcome to the Around Flower Mound Podcast. My name is Steve Gordon, and I'm not your host, but I'm here to introduce your host on this special trailer episode of the podcast. Nicole Smith Woodard: Thank you, Steve. I am so excited about this project and about this opportunity to bring attention to some of the most amazing people and in our community here in this fantastic community of Flower Mound.
Steve: Yeah, I think this is gonna be fantastic. So, tell us a little bit about the inspiration for this. Why did you decide to create the podcast?
All About Flower Mound
Nicole: I love this community. So I've lived in the Metroplex my whole entire life and actually of all the places I could live and have lived, I chose to build a home in Flower Mound a number of years ago and since that time, have just fallen in love with the community as a whole, with the people here in the community, with just living life in and around Flower Mound. So I thought it would be wonderful to do something like this to bring attention to what an amazing community we have here in Flower Mound.
Steve: That's fantastic. So what can people expect as they subscribe to the podcast and tune in?
Nicole: Well, I'm so excited. We are going to be interviewing some of the most amazing community leaders, business owners, people who have consciously made the decision to make Flower Mound not only were they work but also where they live. People that have the inside scoop on what's happened in the history of Flower Mound, what's happening currently in Flower Mound, and also exciting, what we can expect for the future of Flower Mound.
Steve: That's great. And for folks who might be listening to this and considering moving into Flower Mound, because if I were moving into Flower Mound, I'd certainly want to tune in and kind of learn everything I could about the community. If they're listening now, what would you tell them? Why should they look at Flower Mound? What's amazing about the community?
What’s Special About Flower Mound?
Nicole: Well, first of all, welcome. We want you here. Right now as of 2020, we have around 75,000 residents and we welcome you as well. What the other 75,000 people, including myself, made the decision to make Flower Mound their home for a number of reasons. And obviously, everybody has their own order of rankings, if you will. But first and foremost, it's just an amazing quality of life.
And if you look online, you'll see that consistently Flower Mound is recognized as a safe city, as a friendly city. It's just a great place to be by the different US News and World Reports and many magazines and very credible sources that dig into the data and rank these things. So we've been awarded numerous awards. The community itself is, it's a big small town. And so you have best of both worlds. If you're looking for anonymity, we've got that for you. If you're looking to plug in and be part of it and be an active part of a wonderful community, those opportunities exist as well. People are friendly, they're welcoming.
Obviously, we have excellent schools so children are well educated in this community. A lot of people find themselves in Flower Mound because of its convenient location. So literally 15, 20 minutes door to door between here and the third, I think it's the third, busiest international airport, DFW International Airport and proximity to all of the major employment centers here in Dallas Fort Worth. Flower Mound, the town, being in Denton County offers one of the lowest property tax rates in the entire Metroplex.
And fortunately, we aren't impacted so much by toll roads getting to or from so it just offers a tremendous quality of life. We have amazing community activity center, walking and biking trails, trails on Lake Grapevine, all the way up north to Lake Lewisville just beyond our borders. Wonderful, wonderful overall place to live. There's phenomenal shopping and restaurants and retail and just a wonderful quality of life. Just Gosh, I can probably go on and on, but have you heard enough of the reasons why people might want to make Flour Mound their home?
